Tweed the Author

Humorous, Honest, Historic | Veteran Broadcaster, Tweed Scott visits with the people and personalities who make up the Great State of Texas
Texas   in   Her   Own   Words   is   THE   book   that   explains   why   Texans   are   the   way   they   are…where   all   that attitude   comes   from.   It   is   the   result   of   an   over   4,000   mile   trek   across   every   part   of   Texas.   The   author, Tweed   Scott,   is   a   retired   broadcaster   of   over   thirty-one   years.   He   has   always   had   a   deep   love   of Texas   but he   says   after   writing   this   book,   he   has   a   complete   passion   for   it. Truth   be   known,   he   was   not   born   in Texas and   that   is   why   he   wrote   the   book. This   book   has   proven   to   be   the   little   book   that   could. Texas   in   Her   Own Words has won three national awards. Two for creative Non-fiction and one for book design. This   book   started   with   a   throw   away   comment   at   the   dinner   table.   It   was   obvious,   Texans   are   different. Where    does    all    that    attitude    come    from?    It’s    like    they    have    an    extra    gene.    Tweed    calls    it    the    T- Chromosome and he set out to find it. He claims to have found it and wants to share it with you. This   book   explores   the   Texas   psyche   and   gets   into   why   Texas   is   special--why   is   Texas   so   different   than anywhere   else   in   the   country?   He   also   probes   the   question,   what   does   it   meant   to   be   a   NATIVE   Texan? The   book   is   a   fun   romp   through   Texas   from   El   Paso   to   Nacogdoches   from   Amarillo   to   the   Valley.   He interviewed   over   a   hundred   people   for   the   book.   You’ll   find   sixty-two   interesting   people   explaining   what Texas   means   to   them.   You’ll   find   old   friends   between   the   pages,   Willie   Nelson,   Liz   Carpenter,   Darrell Royal,   even   Kinky   Friedman   can   be   found   there.   Mostly,   the   people   you’ll   meet   are   from   all   walks   of   life; the people who walk the talk every day in Texas. Chances are, you’ll find some of yourself in the book too. This   book   has   proven   to   be   a   great   little   gift   book.   Once   you   read   this   book   you   will   understand Texans   and   their   ways.   Many   people   have   bought   the book   only   to   return   and   buy   a   couple   of   copies   for   friends   or   relatives   in   other   states...just   to   help   them   "get   it"-help   them   "get"   Texas.   It   is   a   fun   read; not   heavy   or   academic.   It's   just   a   fun   romp   through   Texas   with   people   explaining   what   Texas   means   to   them.   One   thing   is   for   certain.   Texas   does   not mean exactly the same thing for any two people. Read it and see for yourself. Texas in Her Own Words.
