Tweed is an award winning speaker and the author of the 3-time national award-winning book, Texas In Her Own Words. He describes it as a peek into the Texas psyche and explains why Texans are the way they are…where all that attitude comes from.
The owner of Tejas Communications, a writing and professional speaking company, Tweed is also the president of the board for the Writers’ League of Texas serving some 1,500 members. He recently joined the board of Celebrate Texas.

Everybody wants improvement but nobody wants change. We need to learn how to embrace it and make it work for us and not against us. That is what this presentation is all about.
Inventing Texas
This presentation is geared for schools or short meeting venue environments. ‘Inventing Texas’ is the true story of how the Texas image was invented or manufactured and it all started with some children and a famous dead man. Tweed shows how children had a role in this thing we call the ‘Story of Texas.’ He connects people with their Texas heritage.
Texas Mantra: No is NOT an Option
Texas was created by people who fulfilled dreams. You had to earn the right to live in early day Texas. You earned it by surviving. Those pioneers had two options—lie down, quit and die—or get up and figure out how it make it happen. For them, No was NOT an Option. That‘s what they did and that is the source of the Texan character or what Tweed calls the ‘T-Chromosome.’ Those early settlers developed a set of ABC’s that determined how to succeed—Attitude, Belief in oneself and each other and creating the Confidence which leads to HOW. Texans are HOW thinkers not IF thinkers. You can be too.
