What others are saying about Tweed Scott:

Tweed Scott has spoken to a series of chamber and association groups in our state, especially at meetings, luncheons, and banquets.  His stories referencing the unique history of Texas are continually well received.  I recommend him to you as an asset you should consider adding to your next event or conference.

Art Roberts, CEO, Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives

"I can’t begin to sufficiently express my gratitude for the wonderful program you provided for the Texas Silver-haired Legislature banquet…What a perfect blend of humor, history, and trivia!  I’m certain that I’m not the only one that felt a renewed sense of pride and an awakened curiosity about our rich Texas heritage…Again, thank you for such an entertaining and educational evening…You have us all waiting anxiously for more!"

Lynn Shank, CSA, Vice President, Texas Assurance Care Inc.

CEO, Longevity Management Concepts

"Our audience appreciated Tweed’s quick sense of wit and humor. He has a real gift for connecting with his audience."

Gina Dieterichs--VOICE INC., Corsicana, TX

"Tweed's words may be about Texas, but his inspiration is unity with your heritage, a oneness with your fellow man, and boundless hope for the future."

Dallas Long

Texas Attorney General’s Office—Child Support Division

"We so much enjoyed having you speak at our Association's 50th Anniversary. What an auspicious occasion, Women in Construction celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Austin, Texas Chapter and you there to compliment our Texas roots. Your speech was not only invigorating and enlightening, but you were full of fun factoids, inspiring antidotes and true Texas inspiration. Your book was phenomenal to read and refreshing ways to share with others everything that Texans are about. You reminded me not only of my Texas heritage but of my own fortitude and strength. Without a doubt you put the spurs in my saddle (in a good way) and got my horses up and running again. I thank you for coming and sharing your talent and your gift of 'Tweedisms’ with us. We look forward to having you back again very soon."

Britanie Olvera

NAWIC  National Association of Women In Construction

Tweed Scott is a Texan in his heart, evidenced by the stories he tells.  I personally appreciated the way he accommodated the needs of my students who aspire to be writers.  At a moment’s notice, he altered his presentation to attend to their questions about living as a writer and getting published.  Of course, a true Texan always tends to his visitors so that they walk away feeling “full.”

Some comments from the students at Flour Bluff Junior High School:

  • “I understood your humor and metaphors. I’m sure that there will be more books from him later on.”  Kelly Stewart
  • “He was very entertaining and used good metaphors.”  Kyle Breen
  • “He was interesting and entertaining.  He taught me a lot about publishing a book.”  Araceli Suarez
  • “I liked when he said, ‘No one can see your dreams like you can.’ That made me think a lot.”  Allison Waldbeser
  • “I enjoyed Mr. Scott’s work on the book; he was very inspirational.  Thank you very much!”  Avery Dunn
  • “I had an interesting time listening to him because he explained things - that I usually wouldn’t be interested in – in a way that kept me listening.”  Darrow Brunkenhoefer

You headlined our City of Pflugerville Annual Volunteer Banquet....and what a response we received!  Every time I see someone who attended, the first thing they tell me is how much they enjoyed your section of the evening. I hesitate to call it a 'speech' because (speeches) tend to be canned and what you shared with us was a genuine experiential account. I appreciate the way you tailored your remarks to encourage our guests not only as volunteers, but also as individuals.  I have coordinated this event for 5 years and you have, by far, been the most popular speaker.

Tweed Scott’s book “Texas in Her Own Words” won the popular vote Round Rock Reads 2008 program.  Before it was even known whether or not Tweed’s book had won (there were six books in contention), Tweed graciously agreed to speak at our Round Rock Reads kickoff event at the Round Rock Public Library.  He was a big hit at the event, his speaking style is engaging, he is humorous, expressive, and he really connects to the audience.  His speech the night of the kickoff was the highlight of the evening.  I plan to have Tweed back for future programs as he is such a warm, generous, and talented person.  I recommend him highly!

Tweed Scott did a fantastic job at our Rylander Library’s Friends Meeting.  He provided a very entertaining and interesting program for our organization.  Everyone really enjoyed it.  Thanks for coming to San Saba!

We want to thank you for your presentation at Lakeshore Library for our annual Llano County Book Festival.  You were the first of four authors to speak this year and you started our book festival off with a big Texas bang!!   Not only were we impressed with your love and knowledge of Texas and Texans but also with how you tailored your talk to the audience and encouraged discussion and storytelling.  We’re a small rural library in the Hill Country and never know how many patrons will show up for a presentation.  You were as animated and funny with our group of 20 as you would have been with a much larger audience.  We overheard a patron speaking to her friend as she left the library saying “these other folks around here just don’t know what they missed!”  And what they missed was a great afternoon of Texas stories and laughter.  Many of those who attended also left with a personally autographed copy of your book.  Another patron commented how impressed she was the time you spent talking to her personally and how you tailored your written remarks to each person.  Again, we thank you for the time you spent with library patrons in Buchanan Dam.  If everyone could get a daily “dose” of laughter from your humorous and down-home remarks, it would be a much happier and gentler world.

"REAL" is the perfect word to describe our experience with Tweed today!!  Tweed opened his heart and shared his story, his humor, his passion for the "GREAT" state of Texas and his wisdom to inspire the juveniles who are detained or living in a facility for At-Risk youth.  He made them laugh, think and inspired them push forward!!  I would invite Tweed back again and again to share his many stories and talents!   Thanks Tweed!!!  You were AWESOME....I appreciate you taking your time to share your talents with us!!!  Come again, please!!

In 15 minutes, Mr. Tweed touches that special pride that comes from being 'Texan'.  Whether you were native or naturalized, his insight into the origin of the myths that make this a special place grounded us all to those very stories.  That the myths are bigger than the people themselves  is what defines them as Texans.  We live life large.

Gary Cataldo, Oak Hill Rotary

As a direct descendant of one of the original 300 families brought to Texas by Stephen F. Austin, I am always interested in how Texas started and what makes it unique. Tweed Scott's presentation to the Pflugerville Rotary Club brought new insights about our state. Tweed's look at Texas history and attitude revealed in "Texas...in her own words" is a must read for all true Texans and wanna-be's. And if you get a chance to hear Tweed Scott speak, take it. You will be rewarded with a fun and informative event.

"You just gotta love Tweed! He knows a good thing when he sees it—Texas—and delves into its mystique in an extraordinarily down-to-earth manner. Listening to Tweed, reading Tweed, you begin to think he’s a Texan. Come to think of it, he exhibits the finest characteristics of a Texan! OK, Tweed, you’re now one of us."

“Tweed Scott is a mesmerizing and engaging speaker.  He had the entire group sucked in with the first three sentences. When it was over, we didn’t even realize how much time had passed.  I highly recommend Tweed to any group as a speaker. If you love Texas, you’ll love Tweed Scott’s speaking of Texas”

"Tweed Scott is the author of Texas In Her Own Words, the most talked about book in Texas. As a speaker, Scott is a wonderful storyteller who totally engages his audience and makes it want to hear him tell more of his authentic Texas stories.  His years in the radio business planted the seeds for his gigantic ability to keep his audience's attention. Tweed Scott is the best! There is no doubt about it."
